Twisted Keyring Fob
Skill focus: twist, scroll, clean finish
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 30–60 mins
Tools
Forge, anvil, hammer, tongs, vise, adjustable wrench/twisting wrench
Materials
Mild steel square bar: 6–8 mm, 120–160 mm long
Keyring split ring
Steps
Taper one end for a neat finish (optional).
Make the ring loop: Heat the other end and curl a small loop around the horn (or mandrel). This will hold the split ring.
Close the loop: Tap gently so the loop sits tight without overlapping.
Twist the body: Heat the middle section. Clamp one end in vise, twist 180–360° with wrench.
Straighten: Light taps to align.
Fit the keyring once cooled.
